www.pacificpocker.com – The good form which came around so suddenly a couple of weeks ago, certainly seems to have faded a little, with 8th place on Saturday, and worse still this evening. Through this slight loss of form on the Holdem front however, I managed to win an Omaha tournament online, which goes to show how a change of game can bring changes in results.
As for last nights Holdem game, the key error I made was after one hand, in which a player in late position put a strong bet out after it had been checked round, picking up the pot and showing a weak middle pair. On the very next hand almost exactly the same thing happened, with a similar raise from the same player, and I decided to put in a big reraise.
He called, and foolishly I bet out big on the turn as well. I hit top pair on the river but by this point I knew I was beaten and checked it down, being shown a flopped two pair by my opponent. I should have known that after showing his weak pair on the previous hand, he wouldn’t do the same thing again with a weak hand. After managing to double up, I pushed my still short stack in preflop, with (A,A), and got no callers.
The very next hand was (10,10) and I shoved again preflop, this time being called by (Ah,Qh). The Ace hit on the river unfortunately, and it was all over. Hopefully I can make up for things on Saturday when the next tournament comes around, but in the meantime I shall stick to the Omaha online tournaments.
