ladbrokespoker – After much waiting and wondering, we finally got to find out who our WSOP main event champion would be, as the game played out over November the 9th and 10th. Peter Eastgate was the man who emerged victor after a heads up battle with WSOPE main event 3rd place finisher Ivan Demidov. His achievement was remarkable seeing as nobody had ever made the final table of both these major events.

Ivan finished in the top 3 in both, and in the same year. Peter Eastgate, as champion at 22 years old, breaks Phil Hellmuths 19 year record of the youngest ever WSOP main event champion.

Craig Marquis was the first to fall, finishing 9th place. Kelly Kim followed in 8th, each picking up $900,670 and $1,288,217 respectively. David ‘chino’ Rheem was 7th, and picked up $1,772,650 for his troubles. 6th place was Darus Suharto for a prize of $2,418,562. Scott Montgomery was the final non Pokerstars sponsored player to finish, with a prize of $3,096,768 for 5th. 4th place was Ylon Scwartz for a payday of $3,774,974, and 3rd place was Dennis Phillips who took home $4,517,773.

After a total 274 hands at this final table, Demidov managed to turn a (2,4) into two pair on the turn of the final hand. Little did he know that Eastgate holding (A,5) had made a wheel on the same card and as you would imagine, there was no getting away for a short stacked Demidov. He picked up $5,809 595 for 2nd place, and by anyones stanards, has had a great year. It was Eastgates day however, and he will be written into the history books after an intrueging final table, walking away with a fabulous $9,152,416 for 1st place. Roll on next year.
