John was a keen runner at school and a talented athlete, also going to university later in life. Johns real talent of poker though came to the fore in 2002 when he began to notch up a succession of wins in poker tournaments, including his first bracelet at the World Series which came in the $1,500 Triple Draw Event.
His initial success continued into the next years WSOP too when he picked up a further two bracelets. These were won in the $2,500 Seven Card Stud hi/lo split Event, and also the $2,500 Pot limit Omaha Event. These victories in different poker games show a diversity to Johns play and an ability to play and win in almost any form of poker.
He has had forty four cashes in total at the WSOP, and has made it to six final tables at the WPT too, although he has yet to win a WPT title. John Juanda is sponsored by Full Tilt Poker and made an excellent start to his career with those three bracelets in two years. He has not won any since then, but continues to play well and cash in many events he plays in. For this reason his live tournament earnings stand at an estimated $7.1 million.
You could certainly say that John is a good bet to pick up a WPT title in the next few years, and another bracelet would be nice to see too. John Juanda is a universally liked and admired player at the poker tables, and deserves further achievements to add to those he has already accomplished.
